Much like IELTS, the Test of English as a Foreign Language or TOEFL is trusted by over 11,000 institutions worldwide. 

TOEFL tests can be taken both offline and online. 

Different institutions have different minimum TOEFL score requirements, but a score between 70-95 is considered desirable.

  • Fall Intake: Starts in August. Preferred by most students and it’s probably the best intake. There are also various scholarship options.
  • Spring Intake: Starts in January. Preferred by students who need extra time to prepare for their applications, which means universities receiving extremely few applications.
  • Summer intake: Starts in June. This is the shortest semester of all. Only a few courses are offered, most of which are special summer programmes.

  • Community colleges can charge you around $6,000 to $20,000 per year. Private colleges cost an average of $20,000 to $40,000 per annum for UG programs. While PG programs cost anywhere between $20,000 to $45,000 per annum.
  • Courses in the humanities education and arts are usually less expensive. The tuition costs get higher if you want to pursue postgraduate courses. 
  • The USA is one of the most unaffordable places in the world, but education wise it is also the best country for international students, as per UNESCO.

  • The acceptance rates for the best universities in the US are quite low. Having a good academic profile and documentation for all necessary exams and paperwork can help you stand out from the competition.
  • Other than that you might also be asked to submit course specific documents as well. For example, Bachelor’s degree for PG courses, Master’s degree for Ph.D., GRE/GMAT scores for graduate courses, Proof of English proficiency (IELTS/TOEFL/PTE), Endorsement letters, SOP, and a valid passport and visa. 

  • F1 Visa: The Study permit you need to get if your course has more than 18 hours of Study per week. The visa includes both undergraduate and graduate programs. This is the most preferred type of visa. 
  • J1 Visa: This is a visa for candidates who take part in programmes that encourage cross-cultural exchange or international exchange. The student had to be sponsored by a company or government entity to acquire this visa.
  • M1 Vocational Visa: Students that take part in non-academic or vocational courses need to acquire this visa. Students cannot stay in America for longer than the period stamped on the visa itself.
